Legion Brewing in the Press

Celebrating 10 Years of Craft, Community, and Connection
At Legion Brewing, we’ve always believed in the power of community, conversation, and craft. Over the past decade, our story has been shaped not just by the beer we brew, but by the people we share it with. As we celebrate 10 years, we’re grateful for the spotlight local and national media have shined on our journey. Here’s a quick round-up of recent press that captures what makes Legion Brewing one of the best breweries in Charlotte.

Sláinte! A Toast to 10 Years
Sláinte, our Irish Dry Stout, took the spotlight once again with the Silver Medal at the 2025 World Beer Cup — one of the most prestigious global beer competitions.
This latest recognition marks Sláinte’s third major competitive award, alongside its Silver at the 2018 World Beer Cup and Gold at the 2023 Great American Beer Festival, cementing its reputation as one of Charlotte’s most decorated beers. The win adds to Legion’s growing legacy of excellence, following Hop Chiller’s Gold Medal at the 2022 GABF.
“I’m beyond proud of our brew team,” said Phil Buchy, Founder of Legion Brewing. “Not many can win a medal. A scarce few can do it repeatedly and consistently. One of our core values is to ‘Give a Damn’ — to care about the details and deliver a great product every time. This kind of consistent success only happens because our team gives a damn.”

QC Life: Celebrating 10 Years of Legion Brewing
Charlotte’s own QC Life sat down with Phil to talk about what it means to serve as a neighborhood brewery for a decade. The feature highlighted not just our events and community-focused taprooms, but also an exciting new beer release. To mark our 10-year anniversary, Phil stepped back into the brewhouse to craft Carolina Feather — a crisp, refreshing light lager inspired by North Carolina’s brewing traditions. First poured during our “Knight at the Knights” celebration, Carolina Feather will be available in all Legion taprooms very soon. It’s a beer brewed with intention for our community, embodying both our history and our future.
